The book “Middle generation” gives the reader an insight into the time of formation of graffiti in St. Petersburg, being the time between the old-school pieces of the late 90s and those years when the abundance of paint and the emergence of social networks created an entire industry around it.

It is the result of 2 years of research, a painstaking work to collect unique material, with a lot of soul invested into it, sharing a subjective view of one of the most active writers of that time – AROE.

The book consists of 6 sections and introduces the viewer to many bright names of that time. Some remained faithful to the underground, some stopped painting, and some went into contemporary art. Having gone from cheap car paint to Montana and Molotow, most writers actively developed their style – you can see this, for example, in the Golden Era section.

The material in the book is versatile – bombing and color productions, graffiti tourism, trainwriting and tags, as well as joint pieces of Aroe with 125 writers from more than 25 cities .

But the most valuable thing in such books is, of course, a special kind of nostalgia. For lost places, for urban landscapes, for those times when a large community had fun, writers searched for their own style, while at the same time looking for adventure. For some, the publication will become a guide to pleasant memories; for others, it will tell a lot of new things about the local scene of those times. The team working on this project is confident that no one will remain indifferent.
