Aufstieg (rise) is an attempt to contrast the massive aesthetic of a brutalist residential block with a poetic gesture. The coexistence of nature and ruins is broken here by the action of a protagonist.

In times of increasing technology and the steady development of drones, the flying balloons seen in the video seem almost anachronistic. While newly developed drones are capable to cover entire walls with paint Aufstieg goes a step back and stages the naive gesture of the balloons, which clumsily rise up along the massive concrete wall.
