Eine Bestandsaufnahme von Graffiti und Street Art im 6. Wiener Gemeindebezirk am Beispiel eines zentral gelegenen Häuserblocks
Ob kleine Tags, kunstvolle Pieces oder großflächige Murals: Mariahilf ist ein fruchtbarer Boden für die unterschiedlichsten Erscheinungsformen zeitgenössischer Graffiti-Kunst. Oft reicht ein Blick vor die eigene Haustür, um die vielfältige Graffiti-Welt zu erforschen. Die Ausstellung lädt zu einer Entdeckungsreise durch den öffentlichen Raum ein – mit dem Bezirksmuseum als Ausgangs- und Mittelpunkt. Im Fokus steht nämlich der Häuserblock des Museums selbst, der die Vielfalt und Dichte der Graffiti-Community im Bezirk exemplarisch widerspiegelt. Gezeigt werden Fotografien von Graffiti, die rund um das Museum aufgenommen wurden. Der urbane Mikrokosmos wird ins Innere des Hauses geholt, dokumentiert und analysiert. So wird das Bezirksmuseum zum temporären Ort der Auseinandersetzung mit einer oft kontroversiell diskutierten und teilweise sehr kurzlebigen Ausdrucksform, die den urbanen Raum maßgeblich prägt.Kurator: Stefan Wogrin
