Ten Hundred /Deadbeat Hero Print Release

Join us on August 8th at 19:30 for a „Meet & Greet“ and Print release party with Ten Hun and Deadbeat Hero!

Soon is proud to present Muralist, illustrator, and Designer Ten Hundred (Ten Hun). In collaboration with Duality | Calle Libre Festival for Urban Aesthetics

Ten Hundred (Peter Robinson) is an artist and designer from Seattle, WA. He was born raised in Michigan and moved around the United States before settling in Seattle in 2006.
He specializes in bright, colorful, imaginative character work.
He is inspired by cartoons and anime, street art and graffiti, childlike imagination, comics, world cutltures, religions, and folklore.
He spends his time creating fine art, gallery shows, clothing, toys and figurines, designing art for businesses, and creating large murals.

Together with local artist Deadbeat Hero, they will be painting a mural at this years Calle Libre!

Deadbeat Hero Art is a Texas born street artist and the co founder of Soon Art Studio who now calls Vienna home. He is well known for this „Austrianaut“ and „Sweatermen“ characters which you can see painted all over the city and where ever he visits. He work is heavily influenced by comic books and classic 80’s cartoons.

Duality | Calle Libre Festival for Urban Aesthetics

This year, the sixth edition of the Calle Libre Festival for Urban Aesthetics addresses the theme of duality – complementary or even irreconcilable opposites. The duality of all things. Is everything in our worldview to be based on two original principles? Positive and negative, true and false, light and dark, material and immaterial?

Through an artistic approach, we explore the principle of duality and ask: isn’t the “world” as we know it, a complex overall structure including multiple perspectives, not just black and white ones? Everyone divides their world into differing states – he or she judges whether something is positive or negative. Reality is hence a creation of our intuition.

Mythos Graffiti: Gespräch – Wien Museum

Vermummte Gestalten, die mit Spraydosen nächtens entlang der Bahntrassen unterwegs sind, wilde Schriftzüge, ein Name – egal ob Puber oder King –, der plötzlich überall in der Stadt auftaucht. Graffiti bewegt sich abseits legaler Flächen. Doch woher kommt diese Faszination?

Der Kunsthistoriker Stefan Wogrin gibt einen Einblick in seine laufende Graffiti-Dokumentation. Der Graffiti- und HipHop-Künstler Skero erzählt über seine Anfänge, Video Oner über die Wahl der Orte und Andy Dice Davies (Secret Society of Super Villain Artists, Cheltenham Paints) über die internationale Perspektive.
