In 2009, we introduced Austrians to the work of Shida. Now 3 years later we are happy to welcome the Australian back to present his solo show “Spirit of Memora.” The artist has spent the last few months traveling around the world, painting walls, sketching and drawing inspiration from every culture he visits. It is amazing to see how the work of Shida has developed since 2009. The characters which still resemble those of his first exhibit, now feel much more free and not as weighted down with outlines. The transparency and movement of the new work creates a much more ghostly effect, where the viewer often can not differentiate between the background and the character. Shida has been busy all week transforming the gallery space into his world. Visitors will be treated to a light installation and a living version of one of his creations.

“Spirit of Memora” will open this Wednesday May 9th. The show will continue through May and June. Shida will still be in Vienna for a few weeks so keep an eye out for his walls coming up soon at Shutterland and in the 7th district. We look forward to welcoming you for drinks and snacks and more…
